KLANG Part I: The Kota Bridge
It's Thaipusam... We were not in Batu Caves, but in Klang. Wonderboy, Enigmaz & I were discussing why we never photoshoot in Klang... Of coz we feel that other place is always better than our own hometown, unless you leave your hometown for a period, then you'll appreciate it. I've never leave Klang for since I was born. I don't see much changes, except the residential areas are increasing and massive traffic jam is a trend. Seriously I'm here not to promote Klang as a city, but since it's a 1-day off, it's lazy to go somewhere far. So we just hid under the Kota Bridge...
Yeah, Klang boys with the 47-year old Klang bridge. This is the Kota Bridge, a double decker bridge which connects Pengkalan Batu and Jalan Pasar.
Currently the top deck is closed to traffic while the bottom deck is used as a pedestrian walkway.
It was built by the Dorman Long Engineering Ltd, the British firm that had built the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge, in 1960.
The view of the Klang river and a underconstruction Putrajaya look-a-like mosque from Kota Bridge. Yeah..! The infamous polluted river in Malaysia... Don't blame Klang ppl for throwing rubbish into the river la... blame those who're staying at the river starting point ya... We're just victims! The contaminated water creates good reflection ya... Not bad... xD
Steel beams and rivets for 1/2km.
A regular user of the bridge...
The original Kota Bridge and the new concrete Kota Bridge which run parallel to each other.
Steel beam vs concrete...
Now the Kota Bridge declared structurally deficient. The initial rehabilitation of Kota Bridge would cost about RM160,000. Shall it be preserved..? or demolish it...?
